Battlefield: 1942

Once again the World War 2 FPS genre has been defined. First came Return To Casle Wolfenstein, then Day of Deafeat and now Battlefield 1942. Battlefield takes World War II battles and leaves everything there. The aim is no capture as many of the enemy flags as possible forcing the enemy score down. When it reaches 0 you have won, when your score reaches 0 you have lost. To acheive your aim you may utilise any of the vehicles, weaponry and defences at your desposel. From Spitfires to T-35's, from K98's to Flak Cannons you can use anything on the battlefield, not forgetting Submarines, Destroyers, Carriers and Battleships.

The game runs nicely so long as there are no bots. The graphics are also very refined at smooth and the gameplay kicks. The levels are huge and their are some extra graphical options such as shadows and light mapping. For you to run a LAN game with bots you need a dedicated server, in fact this is the first game we used a dedicated server for. Also it was the first game we used the switch for but that's just coincidence.
