the Games

The same main group of games shows up at pretty much every LAN. Every machine present should have a copy of all the games, and it isn't often these days we have to copy games across. All games are copies, and very few have actually paid for them.

Half Life
Battlefield: 1942

Serious Sam
When the LANS were in early days this was the second most played game, although not always willingly. Has been completed numerously in co-operative, but not once has a deathmatch been played... i'm not sure why.

Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix
Has recently taken over from RTCW as the most played LAN game. SOFII offers realitic weaponry combined with the fast paced carnage of Quake 3. This game is predicted to stay on top spot until UT2003 becomes readily available.

Serious Sam: The Second Encounter
When we had our grubby mits on the demo it was in the days when we had just completed the prequel and it felt new and original. It has numerous technical flaws and it has still not yet been completed in co-operative. Still if you like the first you'll like this, just as long as you didn't play the first too much.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Once the most played game at LANs, quality in all aspects of the game including a very strong sense of realism, and the old battle of Axis Vs. Allies.

Quake 3
Once a neglected game Quake 3 only got it's first proper go at RandyLAN Evo. It is now enjoyed by a wide spectrum of people who like to have a good dose of skill in their game, and people whose brains shut down at 2:00am.

Colin McCrae Rally 2
Driving game.. bah

Red Faction
Faded away lately, but still a decent game.. just not enough variety as all the new maps were a disappointment.

Other Choices:
Unreal Tournament, Half Life: Opposing Force, CounterStrike etc, Quake 2, Tiger Woods Golf, Grand Theft Auto, Crystal Caves Series, SNES Emulation with many retro classics, Ghost Recon ...
